The MiG-21 was undoubtedly the most successful Cold War fighter in terms of reach, operating in over 50 air forces around the globe. The USSR would build 10,645 Fishbeds between 1959 and 1985, India would construct another 657 under license, Czechoslovakia built 194, the Peoples Republic of China reversed engineer the MiG-21 into the Chengdu J-7/F-7 and produced around 2,400 Fishbeds between 1966 and 2013. Despite having limited range (common in many of the early thirsty jet-powered implements), the MiG-21 was none-the-less easy to operate and easy to maintain. The total production makes the Fishbed by far the most produced supersonic aircraft in world history.
