The General Dynamics F-16 Falcon is an air superiority day fighter, it evolved into a successful all-weather multirole aircraft. Over 4,600 aircraft have been built since production was approved in 1976. The F-16A was an initial production variants and was one of the most numerous of all F-16 variants. Many F-16A aircraft have been upgraded, becoming functionally equivalent to mid-production C models.
