The Boeing P-26 Peashooter was the first all metal, pursuit monoplane, for the USAAC. During the years 1932-1934, the P-26 set several speed and altitude records. However, it was conservative in design, with fixed gear and external wing bracing, although the P-26 would prove to be a gallant fighter against Japanese aircraft, in the Philippines, at the beginning of World War II, it was for the most part, an interim aircraft.
